The small dwarf republic (61 km²) is located in north-eastern central Italy between the two regions of Emilia-Romagna and Marche. The vineyards cover 225 hectares. Most winegrowers deliver their grapes to the Consorzio Vini Tipici di San Marino. The wines are produced from the Moscato Bianco(Muscat Blanc) grape varieties, with the largest proportion of sweet sparkling wine, Sangiovese, Trebbiano (?), Chardonnay and Pinot Bianco(Pinot Blanc).
