Description to Rosalia
The winery "Domäne Pöttelsdorf Familymade" is located in the wine-growing region of Rosalia in Burgenland (Austria). The origin of the business lies in a winegrowers' cooperative founded in 1956 with 35 winegrowers. In 2009, it was restructured into a family-dominated winery. The extended families Schandl and Kurz as well as four good friends (Family and Friends) are now the owners of the winery, with Thomas Schandl responsible for the economic fortunes and Rainer Kurz as cellar master in the business.
The vineyards cover about 100 hectares, 90% of which are planted with the red wine varieties Blaufränkisch and Zweigelt, as well as some Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The Familymade concept involves a responsible and sustainable use of resources. This means environmentally friendly cultivation according to the rules of Integrated Pest Management (IPM), terroir-based vine planting, quality-enhancing yield reduction and soil testing every 5 years.
The premium wines include the Amore line, which are single-varietal Blaufränkisch, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot wines, as well as the top cuvée Attacke (Blaufränkisch, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot). Many wines are also available in magnum (1.5l), double magnum (3l), jéroboam (5l) and in large bottles up to 18 litres. From 3 litres upwards, the bottles are sealed with sealing wax and, if desired, also individually labelled by hand. Special attention is paid to rosé wines. The Blaufränkisch rosé LOVE BIRD is available dry and semi-dry, as well as Frizzante and Spätlese.
