Description to Valli Ossolane DOC
DOC area for white wines and red wines in the north of the Italian region of Piedmont near the border with Switzerland. The zone covers eight hectares of vineyards in the municipalities of Beura-Cardezza, Bognanco, Crevoladossola, Crodo, Domodossola, Masera, Montecrestese, Montescheno, Pallanzeno, Piedimulera, Vergonte Pieve, Premosello-Chiovenda, Ornavasso, Trontano, Viganella, Villadossola and Vogogna in the province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola. If the grapes come from classified vineyards, Vigna followed by the name of the vineyard can be indicated on the bottle label. The Bianco is made from Chardonnay (zum. 60%) and, if necessary, other authorised non-aromatic varieties (max. 40%). The Rosso is blended from Nebbiolo, Croatina and Merlot (60%) and, if necessary, other authorised non-aromatic varieties (max. 40%). The red wine Nebbiolo (also as Superiore) must contain at least 85% of this variety.
