Description to Tursan AOC
The appellation is located in the southwest of the wine-growing region of Southwest France. It adjoins the eastern border of the Madiran area. The former VDQS area was classified as AOP in 2011. The vineyards cover 300 hectares of vines in 41 communes in the two departments of Landes (39) and Gers (2) at the foot of the Pyrenees. About two thirds of the rosé and red wines are produced from Tannat (30 to 40%), Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Fer. The white wines consist of Baroque and a maximum of 10% Sauvignon Blanc, Gros Manseng, Petit Manseng, Claverie, Cruchinet, Raffiat, Claret du Gers and Clairette.
