Pago Casa del Blanco
Pago Casa del Blanco |
Description to Pago Casa del Blanco
The winery is located in the municipality of Manzanares (province of Ciudad Real) in the Spanish region of Castilla-La Mancha. The estate was first mentioned in documents in 1854. The name of the farm at that time is derived from a former owner named Gervasio Blanco. After changing hands several times, the estate was finally acquired by the Sánchez-Contreras family in 2002 and the vineyards were expanded. Today it is managed by Joaquín Sánchez García. The company is certified according to the international ISO 9001 standard (quality management) and the entire production process from the vineyard to the cellar is carried out according to these standards.
The vineyards cover 93 hectares of vines on sandy loam soils. The red wine varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec (Cot), Tempranillo and Garnacha Tinta, as well as the white wine varieties Airén and Moscatel de Grano Menudo (Muscat Blanc) are cultivated. They are grown on the most suitable plots. The "Pago Casa del Blanco" area was classified as the highest Spanish wine quality level Vino de Pago in 2010.
The selection of grape varieties, cultivation and production techniques and the control of yields are in harmony with the characteristics of the soil and climate and guarantee the biological balance of the vineyard at all times within the framework of sustainable management. Great importance is attached to the typicity of the wines, which are characterised by their longevity. All wines are checked in the company's own laboratory to measure the grapes and wines according to the quality parameters anthocyanins, iron, gallic acid and total acidity. Most of the ageing takes place in French or American oak barrels. The product range is divided into the "QuiXote" and "Castillo de Pilas Bonas" lines. In addition to the VdP wines, IGP wines"Vino de la Tierra de Castilla" are also produced.
