Appellation in the two districts of Korinthia and Argolida in the east of the Greek peninsula Peloponnese southwest of the port city of Corinth. Wine was already being grown here in times, at least 2,500 years ago. The vineyards cover around 2,100 hectares of vines in 16 municipalities and are situated at an altitude of between 250 and 800 metres above sea level. The area is divided into numerous sub-areas, which also have different soils due to the great difference in altitude. The best locations are those between 450 and 650 metres with red, deep soil. Based on the altitude, the area is unofficially divided into three sub-areas.

The POP red wine is made from the autochthonous variety Agiorgitiko (St. George's vine) and is vinified dry, sweet and smooth. The spicy, long storable wine has distinctive aromas of sour cherries and currants. Because of its dark red colour it is also called "Blood of Hercules", which was wounded when the lion of Nemea was killed. The wines are increasingly aged in . Besides Agiorgitiko, international varieties such as Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Pinot Noir, as well as autochthonous varieties such as Assyrtiko, Roditis, Sideritis and Volitsa Mavri are cultivated. Well known producers are Achaia Clauss, Boutari, Gaia, Katogi Averoff, Kourtakis, Papaïoannou, Parparoussis, Semeli, Skouras, Tsantali and Tselepos.
