Description to Loazzolo DOC
DOC area for white wine in the Italian region of Piedmont. The zone includes the eponymous municipality of Loazzolo in the province of Asti. The vineyard area covers about 150 hectares at an altitude of 400 metres above sea level. The golden yellow sweet wine is made from 100% pure Moscato Bianco(Muscat Blanc). It is produced partly from late harvested (Vendemmia tardiva) raisined grapes and partly from grapes dried on racks. The alcohol content must be at least 11% vol (potentially 15.5%), the residual sugar must be at least 50 g/l, and the ageing period must be 24 months, including 6 months in small wooden barrels. Well known producers are Agribacco, Borgo Isolabella, Borgo Maraglino, Borgo Moncalvo, Cà Bianca, Forteto della Luja, Pianbello, Piancanelli.
