DOC area (also Lacrima di Morro) for red wine in the Italian Marche region. It was introduced in 1985 to save the grape variety of the same name from extinction. The zone includes the municipalities of Belvedere Ostrense, Monte San Vito, Morro d'Alba, Ostra, San Marcello and Senigallia on the hilly areas overlooking the sea in the province of Ancona. The wine is made from Lacrima di Morro d'Alba (85%) and other authorised varieties (max. 15%). There is also a passito of dried grapes and a Superiore with a higher alcohol content.
