Côte de Beaune-Villages AOC |
Description to Côte de Beaune-Villages AOC
Appellation in the Côte de Beaune area, the southern half of the Côte d'Or area in Burgundy. It covers only five hectares of vineyards in 16 communes in the two departments of Côte d'Or (12) and Saône-et-Loire (4). The municipalities of Beaune, Aloxe-Corton, Pommard and Volnay are excluded. Only red wines made from Pinot Noir with percentages of Pinot Liébault (Pinot Noir clone) and Pinot Gris are permitted.
There is also an appellation called Côte de Beaune. However, this should not be confused with the (much larger) Côte de Beaune area.
