Description to Contessa Entellina DOC
DOC area for red, rosé and white wines in the Italian region of Sicily. The zone includes the name-giving municipality of Contessa Entellina in the province of Palermo. If the grapes come from classified vineyards, Vigna can be indicated followed by the name of the vineyard.
The pure wines must contain 85% of the respective variety, max. 15% can be other approved wines. The white wines are Ansonica(Inzolia), Catarratto(Catarratto Bianco), Chardonnay, Fiano, Grecanico(Garganega), Sauvignon(Sauvignon Blanc) and Viognier. The red wines are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Nero d'Avola, Merlot, Pinot Nero(Pinot Noir) and Syrah. The wine types Rosso and Rosato are produced from the varieties Nero d'Avola and/or Syrah (to the 50%), as well as other permitted (max. 50%). The Vendemmia tardiva(late harvest) is made from Ansonica (50%) and other authorised varieties (max. 50%) and is aged in secco, abboccato, amabile and dolce. All red wines are also available as Riserva with at least 24 months of maturation.
