Description to Colli Lanuvini DOC
DOC area for white wine and red wine in the Italian region of Lazio. The zone, with around 1,700 hectares of vineyards, is part of the Castelli Romani area (in the south-western part). It includes the municipalities of Genzano di Roma and parts of Lanuvio near Lake Nemi in the province of Roma. The famous Via Appia Antica runs through the area. If the grapes come from classified vineyards, Vigna can be indicated followed by the name of the vineyard.
The Bianco (also as Superiore and Spumante) is blended from Malvasia Bianca di Candia and Malvasia Puntinata = Malvasia del Lazio (max. 70%), Trebbiano Toscano, Trebbiano Verde = Verdicchio Bianco and Trebbiano Giallo (max. 30%), as well as other authorised varieties (max. 15%). The Rosso (also as Superiore and Riserva) is blended from Merlot (to. 50%), Montepulciano and Sangiovese (to. 35%), as well as other permitted varieties (max. 15%).
