Topikos Oinos Agioritikos/Αγιορείτικος Τοπικός Οίνος |
Description to Topikos Oinos Agioritikos/Αγιορείτικος Τοπικός Οίνος
PGE area (country wine) at the famous "Ágion Óros" (Sacred Mountain) on Athos, the eastern finger of the three-fingered peninsula of Chalkidiki ín of the region of Macedonia(Greece). The name Agioritikos means "Sacred Mountain" and should not be confused with the autochthonous grape variety Agiorgitiko. The white wine is blended from the varieties Athiri Aspro, Assyrtiko and Roditis, the rosé from the varieties Limnio, Xinomavro and Roditis and the red wine from the varieties Limnio and Xinomavro.
They are produced by the Tsantali company, some of which market them in bocksbeute-like bottles, which has exclusively leased vineyards from the monastery of St. Panteleimon in the monastery's own domain "Metochi Chromitsa". Tsantali also produces other local wines under other brand names from this mountain, which are bottled in normal bottles. Agioritikos wines are also available from other producers, as there are other monasteries on Mount Athos. These are, for example, wines from the Monoxilitis monastery, which are then bottled and marketed by the Protopapas company, as well as the Mylopotamos vineyard from the Megisti Lavra monastery.
