| Montagne-Saint-Emilion AOC |
Description to Montagne-Saint-Emilion AOC
Along with Lussac, Puisseguin and Saint-Georges, one of the four communes located outside the Saint-Émilion appellation (Bordeaux) immediately north of the Barbanne river. These four are additionally allowed to put their name on the label, in this case Montagne-Saint-Émilion. The vineyards cover about 1,600 hectares of vineyards, which are distributed among the municipalities of Montagne, Parsac and also those of Saint-Georges (which is also allowed to use the name Montagne-Saint-Émilion). The red wines are predominantly blended from Merlot, as well as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Pressac (Cot) and are similar to those from Saint-Émilion. The best-known wineries are Château Calon, Château Faizeau, Château Maison-Blanche, Château Montaiguillon, Château Roudier, Château Rocher Corbin, Château Teyssier and Château des Tours.
