Together with Lussac, Puisseguin and Saint-Georges, it is one of the four communes located outside the Saint-Émilion (Bordeaux) appellation just north of the Barbanne river. These four may also mention their name on the label, in this case Montagne-Saint-Émilion. The vineyards cover some 1,600 hectares of vines, spread over the communes of Montagne, Parsac and also those of Saint-Georges (the latter may also use the appellation Montagne-Saint-Émilion). The red wines are mainly blended from Merlot, as well as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Pressac (Cot) and are similar to those from Saint-Émilion. The most famous wineries are Château Calon, Château Faizeau, Château Maison-Blanche, Château Montaiguillon, Château Roudier, Château Rocher Corbin, Château Teyssier and Château des Tours.
