Coteaux Champenois AOC |
Description to Coteaux Champenois AOC
Appellation for non-sparkling red wines, rosé wines and white wines (still wines) in the French wine-growing region of Champagne. Mainly red wines are made from Pinot Noir, the white wines are pressed from Chardonnay and also Blanc de noirs from Pinot Noir. Well-known communes are Ambonnay, Aÿ, Bouzy, Cumières and Riceys, which are classified as Grand Cru. In the communes of Aÿ and Bouzy, there are two vineyards where there are ancient, ungrafted vines. This is indicated by huge signs saying "old French vines from before phylloxera". The best Rósewein is considered to be the Rosé des Riceys, which is a dark rose-red wine made from Pinot Noir.
