Description to IGP Ribeiras do Morazzo
IGP(Land Wine)area for red and white wines in the province of Pontevedra in the north-western Spanish region of Galicia. Classified in 2018, the vineyards cover 2,340 hectares in the municipalities of Bueu, Cangas, Marín, Moaña, Pontevedra, Redondela, Poio and Vilaboa. They are located along the coastal region of the Morrazo Peninsula and are protected by mountain ranges that also influence the penetration of the sea winds. These are Sierra de Castrove in the north, Sierra del Suído in the east and Sierra del Galiñeiro in the south. The white wine varieties Albariño (Alvarinho), Caíño Blanco, Godello, Loureiro, Treixadura (Trajadura), Branco Lexítimo (Albarín Blanco) and Torrontés (Alarije), and the red wine varieties Brancellao (Alvarelhão), Caíño Tinto (Borraçal), Espadeiro, Loureiro Tinto, Mencía, Pedral and Sousón (Vinhão) are permitted.
