The municipality is located in the Côte de Nuits area of French Burgundy and is a special case. It does not have its own village appellation, is part of the neighbouring community of Vosne-Romanée and is allowed to sell the village wines under the name Vosne. There are, however, the two Grand Cru sites Echézeaux with 30 hectares and Grands Echézeaux with 9 hectares of vineyards, which, like all Grands Crus, are considered to be separate appellations. The red wines will mainly be made from Pinot Noir with small proportions of Pinot Liébault (Pinot Noir clone) and Pinot Gris. Well-known producers are Bichot (Domaine du Clos Frantin), Confuron-Cotetidot, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Gros, Jadot, Jayer-Gilles, Laurent and Rouget.
