Description to Castelfranco Emilia IGT
IGT area (land wines) for white wines in the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna (until 2013 Bianco di Castelfranco Emilia). It covers 50 hectares of vineyards in 20 municipalities in the two provinces of Bologna and Modena. The main grape varieties are Montù, Moscato (Muscat Blanc) and various Trebbiano varieties; in addition, grape varieties permitted in the region may be used. Varietal wines must contain at least 85% of the variety in question. Dual varietal wines must be blended from 50 to 85% of the main grape variety, plus 15 to 50% of other grape varieties. For the wines, a minimum alcohol content is prescribed for each wine type, but no ageing periods.
