Description to Barco Reale di Carmignano DOC
DOC area for red wine and rosé in the Italian region of Tuscany. The Vin Santo di Carmignano (or Vin Santo di Carmignano Occhio di Pernice), which was included until 2013, was classified as a separate DOC area. The DOC area Rosato di Carmignano, which was independent until 2013, was merged into Barco Reale di Carmignano. The zone covers nine hectares of vineyards in the two municipalities of Carmignano and Poggio a Caiano in the province of Prato and is identical to that of the Carmignano DOCG area. The wine types Rosso and Rosato are blended from Sangiovese (max. 50%), Canaiolo Nero (max. 20%), Cabernet Franc and/or Cabernet Sauvignon (10-20%), Trebbiano Toscano, Canaiolo Bianco = Drupeggio and Malvasia Bianca Lunga (max. 10%), as well as other authorised red varieties (max. 10%).
