Description to Terre Tollesi DOCG
DOCG area (also Tullum) for white wines and red wines in the Italian region of Abruzzo The high classification of DOC took place in 2019. The zone comprises 18 hectares of vineyards at an altitude of at least 80 metres above sea level between the Adriatic coast and the natural park around the Majell mountain massif in the municipality of Tollo (Chieti province). If the grapes come from classified vineyards, the label can indicate Vigna followed by the name of the vineyard. The two white wines Passerina and Pecorino must contain at least 90% of the respective variety, up to 10% other approved varieties are possible. The ageing period must be at least three months. The Rosso (also called Riserva) is produced from Montepulciano (to 95%), as well as other approved varieties (max. 5%). The maturing period must be at least 14 months, for the Riserva 24 months, of which 6 months in the barrel. The spumante is produced from Chardonnay (zum. 60%) and other authorised varieties (max. 40%).
