D.O. Bullas |
Description to D.O. Bullas
The DO area for red wines, rosé wines and white wines, named after the town of the same name, is located in the Spanish region of Murcia in the Levante. It was classified in 1994. The town of Bullas was founded by the Romans. The vineyards cover 5,500 hectares of vines at 400 to 900 metres above sea level. The climate is Mediterranean with an average annual rainfall of 450 mm. Two-thirds of the wine produced is rosé and one-third red. The red wine varieties Monastrell (with 80% of the total area), Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Garnacha Tinta, Syrah and Merlot are permitted for this. For the white wines produced in very small quantities, Macabeo and Airén may be used, and as a supplement Moscatel (Muscat Blanc), Muscat d'Alexandrie and Sauvignon Blanc.
