Appellation in the Larissa district of the Thessaly region. The vineyards cover about 450 hectares of vineyards on calcareous soil in the municipalities of Ambelákia, Kraniá, Piryetós and Rapsani. They are situated at an altitude of 400 to 700 metres above sea level on Mount Ossa at the south-eastern foothills of the mountain and "Mountain of the Gods" Olympus with the highest peak of Mytica (2918 m). The dry aged POP red wine is made from the grape varieties Xinomavro, Ampelakiotiko(Krassato) and Stavroto. Well known producers are Dougos Winery, Katsaros and Tsantali.
