Description to Cesanese del Piglio DOCG
DOCG area (also Piglio) for red wine in the Italian region of Lazio. Classification to this highest level in 2008 was the first in the region. The zone completely covers the two municipalities of Piglio and Serrone, as well as parts of the municipalities of Acuto, Anagni and Paliano in the province of Frosinone. The wine is made from Cesanese with the varieties Cesanese di Affile and Cesanese Comune (zum. 90%), as well as other authorised varieties (max. 10%). There is also the more alcoholic Superiore and the longer matured Riserva. Two other Cesanese areas are Cesanese di Affile and Cesanese di Olevano Romano.
