Aversa DOC

Description to Aversa DOC

DOC zone (also Asprinio di Aversa) for white wine in the Italian region of Campania. The zone includes the municipalities of Aversa, Carinaro, Casal di Principe, Casaluce, Casapesenna, Cesa, Frignano, Gricignano di Aversa, Lusciano, Orta di Atella, Parete, San Cipriano d'Aversa, San Marcellino, Sant'Arpino, Succivo, Teverola, Trentola-Ducenta, Villa di Briano and Villa Literno in the province of Caserta, and the municipalities of Giugliano in Campania, Qualiano and Sant Antimo in the province of Napoli. The wine is made from Asprinio = Greco (to. 85%) and possibly other authorised varieties (max. 15%). The Spumante must be produced 100% varietally pure.

The traditional vine training "Alberata Aversana" is permitted. This involves using trees as supports and raising the vines vertically up to ten metres on them. The harvest must be done on ladders known as "Scale Napoletane". This is to be preserved as a heritage that culturally characterises the landscape. The yield must not exceed 4 kg/m² or 240 kg/vine. The stocking density may be a maximum of 50 vines/ha. These wines must include "Alberata" or "Vigneti ad Alberata" on the label.
