Description to Cacc'e Mmitte di Lucera DOC
DOC area for red wine in the Italian region of Apulia. The zone covers 26 hectares of vineyards in the municipalities of Biccari, Lucera and Troia in the province of Foggia. The peculiar name is a dialect expression and means "drink up and pour again". It is a special process in which fresh grapes are added to the already fermenting must. The red wine is blended with Sumarello = Nero di Troia (35-60%), Montepulciano, Malvasia Nera di Brindisi and Sangiovese (25-35%), and the white varieties Trebbiano Toscano, Bombino Bianco, Malvasia Bianca = Malvasia Bianca di Candia and Malvasia Bianca Lunga (15-30%). The alcohol content is at least 11.5% vol.
