The winery is located in the municipality of Efringen-Kirchen (Markgräflerland area) in the German wine-growing region of
Baden. It is managed by Hanspeter Ziereisen. The vineyards cover nine hectares in the single vineyard
Ölberg (Efringen-Kirchen). They are planted with the red wine varieties Blauer Spätburgunder, Syrah and Regent, as well as the white wine varieties Gutedel, Weißburgunder, Grauburgunder, Chardonnay and Gewürztraminer. The vines are generally used for more than 30 years. The quality criteria in the vineyard are elaborate foliage and vine work, strict yield reduction, as well as a sharp selection of the grapes as prerequisites for healthy and high-quality grapes
The wines are vinified and marketed according to old vineyard
names such as Steingrüble, Tschuppen, Schulen and Rhini. All wines are fermented
spontaneously without the use of pure yeasts. The red wines mature in wooden barrels made of local oak or up to two years in barrique and are bottled without filtration. The musts for the white wines are only clarified by settling. Depending on the wine type, a long yeast storage follows. The top wines from Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc from old vines as well as Chardonnay are bottled without filtration after almost two years of barrel ageing. The best wines of a year are given the addition "Jaspis", which means "best of a vintage". Noble sweet wines and bottle-fermented sparkling wines are also produced
