The winery is located in the municipality of Efringen-Kirchen (Markgräflerland area) in the German Baden
wine region. It is managed by Hanspeter Ziereisen. The vineyards cover nine hectares in the single vineyard Ölberg
(Efringen-Kirchen). They are planted with the red wine varieties Blauer Spätburgunder, Syrah and Regent as well as the white wine varieties Gutedel, Weißburgunder, Grauburgunder, Chardonnay and Gewürztraminer. The vines are usually used for more than 30 years. The quality criteria in the vineyard are elaborate foliage and vine work, strict yield reduction, as well as a sharp selection of grapes as prerequisites for healthy and high-quality harvests
The wines are developed and marketed according to old familiar names
such as Steingrüble, Tschuppen, Schulen and Rhini. All wines are fermented spontaneously
without the use of pure yeasts. The red wines mature in wooden barrels made of local oak or up to two years in barrique and are bottled without filtration. The musts for the white wines are only clarified by settling. Depending on the wine type, a long yeast storage follows. The top wines made from Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc from old vines as well as Chardonnay are bottled without filtration after almost two years of barrel storage. The best wines of a year still get the addition "Jasper", which means "Best of a vintage". Noble sweet wines and bottle-fermented sparkling wines are also produced.
