Colli Bolognesi DOC
Colli Bolognesi DOC |
Description to Colli Bolognesi DOC
DOC area for red and white wines in the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna. The vineyards of the zone cover a total of about 80 hectares of vines. These are, in their entirety, the municipalities of Castello di Serravalle, Marzabotto, Monte San Pietro, Monteveglio, Pianoro, Sasso Marconi and Savigno, parts of the municipalities of Bazzano, Bologna, Casalecchio di Reno, Crespellano, Monterenzio, San Lazzaro di Savena and Zola Predosa in the province of Bologna, and parts of the municipality of Savignano sul Panaro in the province of Modena. The Bologna subzone of special wines covers the hilly area of the municipalities of Castello di Serravalle, Monte San Pietro and Monteveglio, sub-areas of the municipalities of Bazzano, Bologna, Casalecchio di Reno, Crespellano, Marzabotto, Pianoro, San Lazzaro di Savena, Sasso Marconi, Savigno and Zola Predosa in the province of Bologna, and a sub-area of Savignano sul Panaro in the province of Modena
If the grapes come from classified vineyards, Vigna can be indicated followed by the name of the vineyard. The Colli Bolognesi Pignoletto DOCG area has been in existence since 2010. For the white wines from Grechetto Gentile = Pignoletto the DOC area Pignoletto was created in 2014. The pure variety wines must contain at least 85% of the respective variety. The white wines are Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco = Pinot Blanc, Riesling Italico = Welschriesling and Sauvignon = Sauvignon Blanc. From all of them there is also a Superiore. The red wines are Barbera (also as Riserva), Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. From some there are also the wine types Passito, Frizzante and Spumante.
These wines are only valid for the Bologna subzone: Bianco is produced from Sauvignon, Rosso from Cabernet Sauvignon (50% each). There is also a Riserva from both. The Spumante is produced from Chardonnay and/or Pinot Bianco (40%), as well as any mixture of Sauvignon, Riesling, Pinot Nero and Pignoletto
