Description to Roussette de Savoie AOC
A regional appellation in the French wine-growing region of Savoie. It covers a large part of the western part of the AOC Vin de Savoie. The vineyards are situated between 250 and 560 metres above sea level on the slopes of the foothills of the Savoy Alps. In the four cru communes of Frangy, Marestel (or Marestel-Altesse), Monterminod and Monthoux there are steep vineyards with high exposure (sun exposure). That is why they are allowed to add their name. The dry wine is made purely from the Altesse (here called Roussette) (until 1999, up to 50% Chardonnay was also allowed). Well-known producers are Domaine Dupasquier, Michel Gisard, La Cave du Prieure and Domaine de la Violette.
