Description to Delia Nivolelli DOC
DOC area for red and white wines on the island of Sicily(Italy). The zone named after the Delia river covers seven hectares of vineyards in the municipalities of Marsala, Mazara del Vallo, Petrosino and Salemi in the province of Trapani. The pure variety wines must contain at least 85% of the respective variety, with a maximum of 15% being other authorised varieties. The white wines are Chardonnay, Damaschino, Grecanico (Garganega), Grillo, Inzolia, Müller-Thurgau and Sauvignon (Sauvignon Blanc). The red wines are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Nero d'Avola, Pignatello (Perricone), Sangiovese and Syrah.
The Bianco (also known as Frizzante) is blended from Inzolia and/or Grecanico and/or Grillo (to 65%), as well as other approved varieties (max. 35%). The Rosso is produced in any mixture or use of Nero d'Avola, Pignatello, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese and Syrah (65%), as well as other approved varieties (max. 35%). Of all the red wines, there is also a Novello, as well as a Riserva with at least 24 months of maturation. The Spumante is blended in any mixture or use of the varieties Inzolia, Grecanico, Grillo, Chardonnay and Damaschino. A pure spumante is also available from Chardonnay, Damaschino, Grecanico, Grillo and Inzolia (85% of each variety).
