The Schäfer-Fröhlich winery is located in the community of Bockenau in the German Nahe
wine region. It has been managed by Hans and Karin Fröhlich, the fifth generation of the family, since the early 1970s. Since 1996, son Tim has been responsible for the wine production. The vineyards comprise 21 hectares of vineyards in the individual locations Felseneck
and Stromberg (Bockenau), Frühlingsplätzchen
(Monzingen), as well as Felsenberg
(Schlossböckelheim). They are 85% Riesling and 15% Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir. The yield-reduced grapes are selectively harvested by hand. The wines are fermented spontaneously
in steel tanks and matured in typical locations. The range of products includes estate wines, local wines and wines from VDP.Große Lage according to the VDP classification
. The winery has been a member of the VDP
(Verband deutscher Prädikatsweingüter) since 2001.
