2019 Leithaberg DAC Ried Alter Berg Blaufränkisch trocken, Burgenland, Austria

Concentrated, still closed, very pure and fine aroma of ripe black berries with hints of cherry, herbs, some smoke, cigar ash and flesch, nutty, tobacco and leathery notes as well as a little dark ethereal spice. Taut, cool and juicy, youthful, densely knit fruit with lively acidity and present, undeveloped, yet very fine tannins, persistent on the palate, deep and polished, slightly smoky and peppery notes, hints of juniper, a hint of tobacco, then also stewed red peppers, multi-layered, elegant despite its youthful compactness, very good to long, juicy finish. Tends to close with air; definitely needs to mature.
