The "Claus Schneider" winery is located in the community of Weil am Rhein (Markgräflerland area) in the German Baden wine growing region. The ancestors of the family have been growing wine since 1425. Since 1892 viticulture has played an important role as the main source of income. Claus Schneider took over his parents' business in 1982 and expanded the vineyard to its current size. Since 2015 the traditional business has been managed by Johannes and Christoph Schneider. The vineyards cover 13 hectares in the individual locations Stiege (Haltingen), Schlipf (Weil), Sonnhohle (Ötlingen) and Sonnenbrunnen (Lörrach-Tüllingen). They are planted with the red wine varieties Spätburgunder(Pinot Noir),)Pinot Blanc, PinotGris, Chardonnay and Gutedel(Chasselas). All wines are fully fermented and aged without residual sugar. After a long yeast aging, the white wines are not bottled before the end of July. The red wines mature at least 12 months in large wooden barrels and . Bottle-fermented sparkling wines are also produced.
