Description to Torgiano Rosso Riserva DOCG
DOCG area for dry red wine in the Italian region of Umbria. The zone includes parts of the municipality of Torgiano in the province of Perugia and is identical to the Torgiano DOC area. The DOCG classification was established in 1991 and the cornerstone for the quality was laid in the 1970s by the wine legend Giorgio Lungarotti (+1999). The ruby red wine is produced from Sangiovese (zum. 70%), as well as other approved varieties such as Canaiolo Nero, Montepulciano and Ciliegiolo (max. 30%). The alcohol content must be at least 12.5% vol. The ageing period is at least 36 months, including 6 months in the bottle.
