Cotes de Beaune AOC |
Description to Cotes de Beaune AOC
Name for the southern half of the Côte d'Or area in Burgundy. Confusingly, however, this does not cover the entire area, but only four vineyards above the town of Beaune with 35 hectares of vineyards on calcareous soils. Red wines from Pinot Noir and white wines from Chardonnay are permitted.
The designation Côte de Beaune-Villages may be used by 16 municipalities. The appellation Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Beaune applies to the hills above the Côte de Beaune.
