La Méjanelle AOC |
Description to La Méjanelle AOC
The appellation Languedoc La Méjanelle (formerly Coteaux de la Méjanelle) is located in the northeast of the French wine region Languedoc. It was classified as AOC in 2010 and belongs to the second quality category "Grands Vins du Languedoc". The vineyards cover only about 50 hectares of vineyards on reddish coloured clay gravel soils. They cover the four communes of Castelnau-le-Lez, Mauguio, Montpellier and Saint-Aunes in the Département of Hérault. Red wine and rosé are blended from at least 2 of the 3 main varieties Grenache Noir(Garnacha Tinta), Mourvèdre(Monastrell) and Syrah, as well as Carignan Noir(Mazuelo) and Cinsaut.
