Graves de Vayres AOC

Description to Graves de Vayres AOC

Named after the historic town of Vayres, this appellation is located in the north of the Entre-deux-Mers area in the Bordeaux region of France. However, it has nothing to do with the Graves area. The appellation covers 600 hectares of vineyards on gravelly and sandy soil on the rive gauche (left bank) of the Dordogne River. It applies to dry and sweet white wines made from the Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Muscadelle and Merlot Blanc varieties, and to dry red wines made from the Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Carmenère, Merlot, Malbec (Cot) and Petit Verdot varieties.
