Description to D.O. Valencia
The DO area is located in the Spanish region of Valenciana and is named after the capital of this region. There are three su areas. These are the highest and most mountainous area Alto Turia in the northeast with 6 municipalities (white wine area), the sub-area Clariano in the south at the border to the DO area Alicante with 32 municipalities and the largest area Valentino with 29 municipalities (red wine area). The Valentino sub-area includes Moscatel de Valencia as an enclave. The brown, calcareous soils occur everywhere. The climate is Mediterranean on the coast, but mild continental inland, with long, hot and dry summers with daily extreme temperature fluctuations and cold winters up to 40 °Celsius.
