The winery is located in the municipality of Randersacker (Maindreieck area) in the German wine growing region of Franconia. It was founded in 2002 when two brothers Paul Schmitt (House of Dry Wines) and Bruno Schmitt (Weingut Robert Schmitt) merged their businesses. The wine house "Ewig Leben" and a guest house are attached. The vineyards comprise 15 hectares of vineyards in the Randersacker single vineyards Lämmerberg, Marsberg, Pfülben and Sonnenstuhl. They are planted with the white wine varieties Silvaner, Müller-Thurgau, Riesling, Rieslaner, Traminer, Scheurebe, Pinot Blanc and Bacchus. We consistently practice natural, environmentally friendly viticulture

Robert Schmitt (Bruno Schmitt's uncle) was regarded as the guardian of the Grail of uncompromisingly dry Franconian wine aged in classic wooden barrels. The original name of the winery derives from the philosophy of "naturally pure wines", which has always been valid (in both wineries). This means that no wine is ever enriched with sugar, is always allowed to ferment and is bottled without any added sweet reserve. Fermentation and ageing take place in steel tanks and in large wooden barrels. According to the old Franconian rule, wines are only described as dry(Franconian dry) on the label up to 4 g/l residual sugar, even if this is permitted by wine law up to 9 g/l. Rarely more than 1 g/l residual sugar is reached. Bottle-fermented sparkling wine and marc spirit are also produced. The winery is a member of Silvanerforum and Slow Food.
