The winery is located in the municipality of Straden at the foot of the Saziani mountain in the wine-growing region Vulkanland Steiermark (Austria). The "Saziani" estate, until then managed by the Province of Styria, was taken over by Rupert Neumeister in 1971 and merged with his own vineyards. From 1981 on the estate was then managed by Albert and Anna Neumeister. Since 2009 son Christoph is responsible. A new wine cellar built in a step-like fashion into the slope was opened in 1998 and a new barrel cellar and tasting rooms in 2003. The Saziani Stub'n Restaurant and the Saziani "Schlafgut" Hotel are run in close connection with the winery.
The company's own vineyards cover 30 hectares of vineyards in the Klausen and Steintal (First STK sites), Moarfeitl and Saziani (Great STK sites) as well as Buchberg, Silberberg, Weissenberg and Ingerl. Furthermore, grapes from 4 hectares are also delivered by contract producers. The white wine varieties Sauvignon Blanc, Gelber Muskateller, Welschriesling,Pinot Blanc, PinotGris, Morillon(Chardonnay) and Traminer as well as the red wine varieties Zweigelt andPinot Noir are cultivated and processed. Since the year 2013, all vineyards have been cultivated according to certified guidelines of organic viticulture. These include, among other things, the renunciation of artificial fertilizers and herbicides, pest control by means of predatory mites and paraffin oil, as well as a greatly reduced use of fungicides through rigorous foliage management.
The selective grape harvest is carried out in several tranches with the aim of fully ripe grapes, which are hand-picked in 20 kg crates. The final quality control is carried out manually on a vibrating table. Gravity is used in the cellar for the most gentle processing of the grapes. Before pressing, all varieties are subjected to an extended maceration period. Depending on the type of wine, the wines are aged in stainless steel tanks, in traditional large wooden barrels or in barriques with intensive contact with yeast. They are marketed in the lines Regional Wines, Local Wines, First STK Lage and Great STK Lage. Around 140,000 bottles of wine are produced annually. Bottled sparkling wine, grape juice, noble brandies, vinegar, grape seed oil and verjus are also produced. The winery is a member of the two winegrowers associations Styrian Terroir & Classic Wineries and Winegrowers Vulkanland.
