2007 Ried Hochberg Syrah trocken, Burgenland, Austria

Nose still rather closed, preserved mixed berries and tart cherries, earthy and vegetal notes, some spicy oak, light mineral and herbaceous notes. Full-bodied and concentrated on the palate, very ripe fruit, earthy notes and some undergrowth, sweetish vanilla, vegetal notes and a hint of tobacco, very persistent and very creamy, but also has some cool elements, light mineral notes, good depth, firm and compact structure, still largely undeveloped, fairly mature tannins, very good long finish, needs time to develop.
