2007 Ried Flachgraben Merlot trocken, Burgenland, Austria

Fairly tart but also fresh nose, cherries and mixed berries, delicate herbaceous and prominent mineral notes. Clear, cool, juicy fruit on the palate, delicate hint of chocolate, light earthy and prominent mineral notes, fairly prominent, very fine tannins, full-bodied and persistent, very creamy, also polished with an elegant bite, excellent depth, still young, very good long finish. Has developed very well indeed.

Editor note: Preserved mixed berries and cherries on the nose, spicy vanilla oak, some chocolate, dried herbs and some mineral notes in the background. Firm and juicy on the palate, surprisingly cool fruit, light acid bite, firm, youthful tannins, some roasted oak and chocolate, more herbaceous notes and mineral traces, good persistence and has some depth, still quite youthful, quite firm, very good finish. Needs time to develop.
