2008 Mittelburgenland DAC Blaufränkisch trocken Biiri Reserve, Burgenland, Austria

Clear, fairly polished nose, ripe cherries and mixed berries, moderate nutty, spicy oak, some pepper, dried herbs, earthy and mineral notes. Ripe, juicy, polished fruit on the palate, nutty, spicy oak, hint of tobacco, light cedary notes, pepper and some dried herbs in the background, good substance and persistence, integrated tannins, medium body, harmonious, some depth, salty traces in the background, more tobacco on a very good tart, juicy finish. In excellent condition.

Editor note: Preserved black berries, raspberries and rosehip on the nose, hint of chocolate, delicate touch of tobacco, light spicy oak. Full-bodied on the palate, ripe, juicy, fairly cool fruit, light roasted notes, spicy oak, chocolate, fairly fine and predominantly mature tannins, still fairly prominent, persistent, good depth, quite creamy, minty notes, earthy and mineral notes in the background, very good finish.
