2020 Deutschkreutz Blaufränkisch trocken, Burgenland, Austria

Firm and tart, smoky, a touch meaty and earthy aroma of ripe black berries with tobacco wood notes and a hint of lavender. Firmly knit, tart dark fruit, relatively clear, delicately bitter, slightly smoky to sooty wood spice, some acidity and present, yet relatively fine tannin, still a touch drying on the palate, meaty and ashy tones, pepper and hints of juniper in the background, salty mineral tones, lots of power, some alcohol warmth, hints of malt and bread crust, a little pipe tobacco, very good, firm finish with dark fruit, tart wood spice, some alcohol warmth, but also cooling ethereal elements again.
