2003 Ried Hochberg trocken In Signo Sagittarii, Burgenland, Austria

Red berries on the nose, noticeable old oak, gingerbread spice, some malted notes and partly roasted skins, prominent cherry aromas come to the fore with long aeration. Harmonious with very slightly tart berry fruit, quite classical apart from the oak, fairly gripping style, good substance, somewhat chunky and rustic, tannins starting to integrate, becomes softer after a long time in the glass, shows more depth and juicy fruit, good finish. Needs time to mature.
