Puisseguin-Saint-Emilion AOC |
Description to Puisseguin-Saint-Emilion AOC
Along with Montagne, Lussac and Saint-Georges, one of the four communes located outside the Saint-Émilion appellation (Bordeaux) immediately north of the Barbanne river. These four are additionally allowed to put their name on the label, in this case Puisseguin-Saint-Émilion. The vineyards cover about 750 hectares of vineyards, which are distributed between the municipalities of Puisseguin and Monbadon. The red wines are predominantly blended from Merlot, as well as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Pressac (Cot) and are similar to those from Saint-Émilion. The best-known wineries are Château Bel-Air, Château Durand-Laplaigne, Château Fongaban, Château Guibeau La Fourvieille, Château des Laurets and Château Teyssier (also in Montagne).
