Description to Eloro DOC
DOC zone for red and rosé wines in the Italian region of Sicily. The zone covers 100 hectares of vineyards in the municipalities of Noto, Pachino, Portopalo di Capo Passero and Rosolini in the province of Siracusa, and Ispica in the province of Ragusa. The Pachino subzone includes municipalities of Pachino and Noto. The two wine types Rosso and Rosato are produced from Frappato and/or Pignatello = Perricone and/or Nero d'Avola (to 90%), as well as other authorised varieties (max. 10%). The three single-varietal wines Frappato, Nero d'Avola and Pignatello must contain 90% of the respective variety and, if necessary, a maximum of 10% of other authorised varieties. The red wine from the Pachino subzone (also as Riserva) is produced from Nero d'Avola (max. 80%), as well as Frappato and/or Pigenatello (max. 20%).
