Description to Collioure AOC
The appellation for red, rosé and white wines is located in the French wine-growing region of Roussillon at the foot of the Pyrenees directly on the Spanish border. geographically it coincides with the liqueur wine area of Banyuls. The vineyards on the Mediterranean coast cover 430 hectares of vineyards in the four municipalities of Banyuls-sur-Mer, Cerbère, Collioure and Port-Vendres. The red wine is blended from at least 60% Grenache Noir(Garnacha Tinta) and/or Mourvèdre(Monastrell) and/or Syrah (max 90% per variety), as well as Carignan Noir and Cinsaut. For rosé, a maximum of 30% Grenache Gris(Garnacha Roja) is also permitted. Since 2003, white wine is also permitted, which consists of at least 70% Grenache Blanc(Garnacha Blanca) and/or Grenache Gris, as well as a maximum of 30% Tourbat(Torbato), Marsanne, Roussanne and Viognier (each variety max. 15%). Well-known producers are Chapoutier, Château de Jau, Domaine de Baillaury, Domaine du Mas Blanc, Le Cellier des Templiers, Le Clos de Paulilles, Domaine de la Rectorie, Domaine la Tour Vielle and Domaine Vial-Magnères.
