Description to Auxey-Duresses AOC
The appellation, named after the village of the same name, is located in the Côte de Beaune part of the Burgundian Côte d'Or in the vicinity of the communes of Meursault and Monthélie. The 135 hectares of vineyards also include areas in the communes of Petit Auxey and Melin. Two thirds of the vineyards produce red wines (Pinot Noir with Pinot Gris and Pinot Liébault) and one third white wines (Chardonnay with Pinot Blanc). There are nine Premiers Crus with 32 hectares of vineyards, the most important being Bréterins, Climat de Val, Duresses, Écusseaux and Reugne. An alternative appellation exclusively for red wines is Auxey-Duresses-Côte de Beaune.
