The winery is located in the wine town of
Krems in the
Kremstal wine-growing region of Lower Austria. The roots go back to the Babenberg period, when around 1300 Albrecht I. (1255-1308) enfeoffed twenty of his most loyal followers with farmland, riparian forests, orchards and vineyards in and around Weinzierl (today a district of Krems). The vineyards were subsequently cultivated by these "Lehnern". In 1923 these estates were divided among the individual Lehners. The farm is managed by Anton Zöhrer
Some of the vineyards have been in the family for well over 400 years. They cover 20 hectares of vineyards on primary rock, loess & slate terraces in the
Gebling, Goldberg, Galgenberg, Kaiserstiege,
Sandgrube, Turnerberg and Weinzierlberg vineyards. They are planted with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Gelber Muskateller, Sauvignon Blanc and some Traminer as well as with the red wine varieties Zweigelt, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir. Environmentally friendly, near-natural viticulture is consistently practised. The premium wines include various Grüner Veltliners and Rieslings
Kremstal DAC (SAND1, Impuls, Gigant, Urknall), as well as the Zweigelt red wines Goldberg and ADONIS. As a speciality, "Natural Wines" (mash-fermented white wines such as "Magnifizenz" from Grüner Veltliner) and
Orange Wine are offered. Since 2013, bottle-fermented, hand-shaken vintner' s sparkling wines have also been produced, which are matured on the yeast for up to three years
