The winery is located in the municipality of Siefersheim ( Bingen area) in the German wine-growing region of Rheinhessen. It was founded in 1845. Cathrin and Daniel Wagner are the eighth generation of the family to take over the business from their parents. The owner previously gained experience in wineries in Tuscany, Bordeaux and California(Los Carneros). David van den Höövel is jointly responsible as cellar master. The winery has been a member of the VDP (Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter) since 2004.

The vineyards in the Rheinhessen Switzerland region cover around 20 hectares of vines in the single vineyard sites HEERKRETZ, Goldenes Horn, HÖLLBERG (Siefersheim) and SCHARLACHBERG(Bingen), as well as vineyards in Fürfeld and Neu-Bamberg. They are mainly planted with the white wine varieties Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay and Silvaner as well as smaller proportions of the Scheurebe, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscat varieties. In terms of red wine varieties, the main focus is on Pinot Noir and a small parcel of Merlot.

Since the 2008 vintage, the vineyards have been cultivated according to the certified rules of organic viticulture. In addition, the winery has been certified sustainable since 2025 (FairChoice®). In recent years, extensive landscaping measures have been added for the maintenance of the vineyard walls and the numerous dry flower meadows. In the HEERKRETZ site in particular, several hectares of former vineyards are part of a biotope concept to preserve the dwarf shrub heaths. The farm's own herd of sheep and goats makes an important contribution to this. This gradually creates a holistic cycle of landscape, animals and people.

The philosophy of the estate is based on the principle that quality is created in the vineyard. Viticulture is characterised by craftsmanship and combines traditional working methods with modern methods. This includes consistent yield reduction, manual foliage care and under-vine work as well as selective manual harvesting. This means that only physiologically ripe and healthy grapes are processed.

In accordance with the VDP classification model, the product range is divided into the estate wines, local wines and single vineyards lines. Depending on the type of wine, the white wines are matured in stainless steel tanks or in oak barrels. The red wines mature in barrique barrels and are bottled without filtration. A bottle-fermented sparkling wine, grape juice and Traubengrape seccoSecco are also produced. The wines are exported to 30 countries.
