The winery is located in the municipality of Leimen (Badische Bergstraße area) near Heidelberg in the German wine-growing region of Baden. Founded in 1707 by Andreas Seeger, the traditional winery is now run by the 13th generation of the Seeger family. Thomas Seeger is the 13th generation of the Seeger family to run it. The vineyards cover 11 hectares of vines at single vineyard Herrenberg (Heidelberg and Leimen). They are planted with the white wine varieties Riesling, Pinot Blanc,Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Goldmuskateller, Auxerrois and Sauvignon Blanc, as well as the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, Blaufränkisch and Schwarzriesling. The vineyards are cultivated according to certified organic viticulture guidelines. As a quality-enhancing measure, yields are greatly reduced.
The wide range of products is organised according to the VDP classification model into the lines estate wines, Erste Lage and Grosses Gewächs from the Lange Wingert, Oberklamm and Spermen vineyards. Depending on their quality, they are labelled with the codes S, R, RR or RRR. The wines are predominantly fermented spontaneously and, depending on the wine type, matured for a long time on the fine lees in stainless steel tanks, in traditional large wooden barrels or in barriques. Many wines are bottled in magnum bottles (1.5 litres).
The premium wines include "Grauer Burgunder Oberklamm", "Riesling Oberklamm" and "Spätburgunder GG Spermen". Bottle-fermented sparkling wines and Secco (semi-sparkling wine) are also produced. Around 70,000 bottles of wine are bottled every year. The winery is a member of the German Barrique Forum and the VDP.
